Meet the team
Managing Director

Sarah Anderson

Sarah has worked in the NHS since 2006. Her career began in A&E services at LGI before moving into primary care working for the former Leeds Primary Care Trust’s Practice Nurse Development Team from 2008-2011. She currently is working as a Practice Nurse at Lingwell Croft Surgery as the lead on Respiratory. Current relevant qualifications consist of BHSc (Hons) Adult Nursing, Independent and Supplementary Nurse Prescriber, Diploma in respiratory disease management in primary care, ARTP Advanced Spirometry and a qualified mentor.

Sarah is passionate about pushing change forward and improving outcomes for respiratory patients.

Education Director

Melissa Canavan

Melissa began her career as a nurse cadet in 2000 at St James Hospital Leeds,
before training as a nurse at the University of Leeds. She finally qualified in 2008 after a gap year and having two children.
She worked at St James A&E until 2009 before beginning her career in practice nursing at Lincoln Green Medical Centre. Current qualifications include AdvDip Nursing, BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing. She has completed diplomas in COPD, asthma, heart failure, smoking cessation and Spirometry ARTP.

In 2015 she completed the NHS leadership academy frontline programme and also joined the Primary Care Respiratory Leaders Management Team. This team plans and develops a clinical leadership programme for primary care clinicians.
September 2016 Melissa left her job as a practice nurse for a 12 month contract at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust as Respiratory Nurse Specialist. September 2017 Respiratory Care Solutions secured a contract with a collaboration of GP practices to standarised care and reduce variation. Melissa currently works as a primary care Respiratory Nurse Specialist within this collaboration that has now extended to 12 practices. She is also the Locality Lead Nurse for Leeds 8 & 9 in the new Local Care Partnersips in Leeds.

Melissa is passionate about education, leadership and quality improvement and has just started her journey to become a Buddhist Chaplain for the hospitals and prisons.

Clinical Director

Sarah Cowdell

Sarah qualified in Huddersfield over 30 years ago and has been involved in various aspects of respiratory care for over 20 years. She was appointed as a Respiratory Specialist Nurse in 2003 and qualified as an Independent Nurse Prescriber in 2005.
The majority of her career has been in hospital working alongside respiratory consultants in clinics, running the Bronchoscopy service and involvement with the TB service. She has always carried a community caseload working out of the hospital and in 2008 was appointed as the first Community Respiratory Specialist Nurse in Huddersfield. Initially employed by a Primary care trust the changes within the structure of the NHS mean that this has now become a social enterprise providing community services.
Sarah's interest has always been in COPD, ILD and palliative care in non malignant lung disease. She has presented the work of her current service at conferences such as COPD8 and recently the British Thoracic Society Winter Meeting.
Sarah is delighted to be involved with Respiratory Care Solutions and hopes she can share her passion for respiratory medicine


Sean Mackey

Sean has been qualified as Pharmacist since 1990. He has wide experience in Primary Care Services and Development, and Medicines Optimisation. He has been a Head of Medicines Management for a number of Primary Care Organisations, Pharmacist Practitioner partner in a large medical Practice, Director of Out of Hours Medical Services, PCT PEC member, NICE guideline member and Director of a number of Private medical organisations. He has recently been supporting Primary Care organisations with service reorganisation, QIPP achievement and movement of services into the community.

Non Executive Director

Victoria Robertson

Victoria is a non-exec director and provides legal, regulatory and company secretarial input. She is a solicitor, and works as an associate in the corporate and commercial team at Weightmans LLP, with a number of clients in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.


Tammy McDaid

Tammy joined RCS in April 2018. She has a diploma in beauty therapy and worked within this industry for 10years. Tammy came to RCS with limited IT and administrative skills. She recently passed City & Guilds ITQ course and has moved on to the next level to help increase her knowledge and skill set. Tammy is very keen to develop her skills, she has a fantastic work ethic and enjoys a challenge.
